2017 Events

​

We have a record 10 Events scheduled for 2017 - see schedule below.

​

The biggest event will be the Fitz Open Golf on 9 September in Cambridge, timed to co-incide with the evening Sports Alumni Dinner in College. The Open will be played for the first time at Royal Worlington - the University Course and reputedly "the greatest nine hole course in England". All Fitz golfers are warmly invited to take part.

​

Our Summer Tour this year is to the Wirral, Cheshire - our first Tour north of Cambridge. Your Captain, Mike Hamment has booked three excellent courses on the Wirral for early July with hotel accommodation in Parkgate. The Tour grows in popularity every year and we would particularly welcome Fitz golfers based in the North and Midlands - as well as our regulars.

Mike has also arranged a special outing on 23 May to Broadstone GC - an outstanding course in Dorset which we played on last year's Tour.

We have our usual range of matches against other Oxbridge Colleges / Societies at some excellent courses in the South East. Our long standing fixture against St Edmund Hall is on 8 May at Wimbledon Park. We now have two tripartite matches. We welcome new opponents in Jesus (Cambridge) joining our match with CU Land Society on 12 June at Dyrham Park. Our first event of the year is on 10 March at Cambridge Meridian, where we are entering teams of four into a light hearted Society Day.

All the events are listed on the attached schedule are open to all Fiz golfers. The only exception is a representative match in April against other Cambridge colleges where the Fitz team of six has already been selected. Several matches have the option of playing all day or lunchtime onwards to suit your circumstances.

An innovation this year is the introduction of Match Organisers who have kindly agreed to sort out team arrangements for and on the day. Thanks to Mike Hamment, Graham May, Bob Barltrop and Brian Smith for taking on the role for the matches shown.

Please book now for any / all Fitz GS 2017 events. Early bookings are encouraged to secure your place and to make the organisers' lives easier! If you wish to sign up for any match, please state which matches you want to play in, and send a reply to:-​
